Area of Municipality Blato has 89,28 m2. Blato has exit to the sea on northern and southern side of the island. On northern side it stretches from bay Sprtiska to bay Babina and on southern side from bay Slatina to bay Vinacca. You can get to Blato by car, bus or boat rentals .

Blato (island Korcula) - History
Blato was named by a lake which was located in area of today's field Blato, between Blato and Vela Luka. It is the oldest settlement on island Korcula. Belfry in front of the church, was built in 18th century. It has loopholes that testify that it was used for defense. In the beginning of 20th century lake was drained and 4 km long tunnel was built to get to the sea.
After World War I many inhabitants left Blato because of phylloxera attacking vineyards. Inhabitants mostly went to Australia and South America. After World War II agriculture, industry and tourism developed in Blato. Factory of ship equippment is one of the main engine of growth in Blato.
