Dobrince - History
Until territorial reorganization of Croatia, Dobrince was part of Municipality Imotski.
Area of Dobrince has been inhabited since Prehistory which is testified with forts and piles found in this area. Most of the forts are Illyrian. There were also found many tombstones.
During Turkish attacks settlements Dobrince did not exist as independent settlement. It was part of Zagvozd.
When Venetians won the war against Turks they expanded their land in Dalmatia.
Dobrince was first time mentioned in written document in 1725.
Inhabitants planted vine, but between 1730. and 1733. plague spread and brought hunger.
After fall of Venice, Dalmatia became part of Austria which later lost war against Napoleon and France. France ruled from 1806.-1813.
After Napoleon Austria again ruled in Dalmatia. It was between 1814. and 1918.
Church of St. Stephen was built in 1889.
After World War I new states were formed. Dalmatia was part of State of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians which later became Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians.
During World War II Independent State of Croatia was formed which later entered Yugoslavia.
In 1960. electrical grid was built in Dobrince.
In 1991. started Homeland war because Croatia got independent from Yugoslavia.
In 1993. Dobrince became part of Municipality Lovrec.
