Igrane is a small picturesque settlement situated in the center of the Makarska Riviera. It is located at the foothills of the mountain Biokovo by the sea and is known by its beautiful big beaches and untouched nature attracting tourists from all over the world.

The parish Church of Our Lady of the Rosary was built in 1752 and renovated in 1906. It was expanded with two chapels in 1936 assuming a shape of a Latin cross.
The fort Zalina was built during the Cretan war for defense against the Turks.
The Church of St. Mihovil was built in the 11th century and is the most significant medieval monument on the coast of Makarska Riviera. During the earthquake in 1962 it was badly damaged but it was renovated by the Croatian Archaeological Restauration Department.
The summer house Simic-Ivanisevic was built in 1760 in baroque style.
The Roman sarcophagus found at the graveyard indicate that this settlement existed during the Roman times.
The Church of St. Nikola was built in 1925 at the local cemetery at the place of a medieval church. It is a votive church built by a few men from Igrani who found themselves in mortal danger at the estuary of the river Mississippi in USA, and they vowed to build a church at home if they survived the ordeal.
The Chapel of Our Lady Helper of the Christians is a votive chapel built by a fisherman from Igrane who found himself in a hurricane on the river Mississippi and was attacked by a big snake and vowed to build a chapel if he came home safe. On his return to Igrane he made his promise true.
The small Chapel of the Holy Trinity was built in 1909.

Igrane - History
The Romans, Illyrians and Dalmats left traces of their existence here. The Croatians inhabited Igrane in the 7th century. Igrane was first mentioned in written records in 1466 and it had 50 residents at that time.
Igrane - Interesting Facts
The Roman general Lucius Artorius Castus (King Arthur) lived here and ruled this area in the 2nd century which is evidenced by the archaeological findings. A legend say that before his death Arthur looked for a place where he would leave his sword, and when he found it he called it by his mother’s name- Igrane.
