Gornja Brela is located in inland, but if you want to go to beaches you can visit settlement Brela on the coast. There are beautiful beaches and you can get there with a car.

Municipality Brela is consisted of Gornja Brela (Upper Brela) and Brela. New settlement Brela is located within the coast and Gornja Brela is older settlement located in inland. Gornja Brela has surface of 20 km2.

Gornja Brela - History
Gornja Brela was known in 950. as Berulia.
There are many localities which testify that this area was inhabited in Prehistory.
Since the middle of 20th century Brela had been divided into Donja and Gornja Brela. In 1980s Donja Brela was renamed into just Brela.
Brela was mentioned many times in written documents through the history. In 1315. it was mentioned in letter of Juraj Subic, in 1577. in resolution of Alojzije Mocenigo, in 1694. in will of don Nikola Ursic...
