Arboretum Trsteno is oldest botanical garden in Croatia. It is the only arboretum in Croatian Adriatic coast. It has collections of egzotic and Mediterranean plants. Arboretum Trsteno was founded in 1498. Its surface is 28 ha. Within Arboretum Trsteno is Baroque fountain of sea god Neptune, from 1736.

Canvases are 60 m high and over 600 years old.

In history many inhabitants of Trsteno were directed to maritime.
Archaeological findings show that this area was inhabited even in 5th century. In Trsteno were found remains of Christian basilica and many tombs.
Trsteno became part of Dubrovnik Republic in 1399. Dubrovnik nobility built many mansions and villas in Trsteno.
Many houses and buildings in Trsteno were robbed and burned during Homeland war.
