Settlement Dunave was named after hill Dunavsko in bottom of which it is situated.

Inhabitants of Dunave have always been directed mostly to agriculture.

At the end of 20th century settlement Dunave was attacked, robbed and burned by Serbian army during Homeland war. Dunave was renovated after the war.
