During Roman times in this area was settlement Novae.

During wars between Turks and Venetians in 17th century, inhabitants ran away, but came back in 18th century during Austrian rule.

In 19th and 20th century tobacco and vine were planted. Since it was not enough, many inhabitants left for seasonal jobs to region Slavonia and to Herzegovina.

Before World War I many inhabitants left to America.

During 60s and 70s of 20th century many inhabitants also left for jobs, mostly to Germany.

During Homeland War from 1991.-1995. 11 young people died.

In 1937. elementary school was opened.
