It is believed that Srijane was founded in 16th century when inhabitants from Bosnia and Herzegovina were running away from Turks.

Until 1803. Srijane was part of Poljicka Republic.

In 1813. this area was under Habsburg Monarchy rule, after World War I it was part of Kingdom SHS, during World War II part of Independent State of Croatia.

Srijane became part of Municipality Omis after Croatia got its independence.

Most known specialty of Srijane is mangold pie „soparnik“.
