Settlement Korita was founded in 15th century. Korita (troughs) was named after natural stone indentations which were filled with water.

Korita was founded when inhabitants of former settlement Zara moved few kilometers between hills for defense.

Settlement Korita has a tower in center which was used for protection from pirate attacks.

After the earthquake in Dubrovnik in 1667. Few families from Dubrovnik moved to Korita and built stone houses.

In 17th and 18th century Korita was developing fishing and selling sardines. In the end of 18th century sardines disappeared and Korita became poor.

Korita used to be rich small town in the past and today it is small village.
