Many inhabitants were sheltered in basements of fort Kastio during times of pirating. Basements are 30 m long and 3 m wide.

Tower Toreta is 4 m wide and 14 m high.

Church of Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 12th or 13th century and it is 5 m wide and 13,6 m long inside.

Park-woods in Gornje Celo is protected area of 12 ha. It is protected since 1961.

There are no roads on island Kolocep, only one concrete path connecting two settlements.

Accommodation on island Kolocep is offered in private rooms, houses and apartments and hotels.

Island Kolocep has 2000 inhabitants in 14th and 15th century. They owned 37 boats which sailed through entire Adriatic. In 15th century they had 65 boats and a shipyard. Inhabitants of island Kolocep were also directed to extracting and selling corals.

In 1571. island was devastated by Turks.

Island Kolocep has two names. Locals call it Kalamota which is the oldest name of this island noted in 1497. in Parish archive file.

It is believed that two crew members on Columbo's ship Santa Maria were from island Kolocep, Dominik and Mato Kondjevic, but it was never confirmed by any evidence.
