Racisce is a small picturesque village located in a deep bay carved on the Northern cost of the island of Korcula facing Peljesac Peninsula. It is situated about 12 km from the old town of Korcula to which it is connected by a narrow paved road that runs from Korcula Town through the bays of Medvinjak, Vrbovica, Tri Zala and Kneze to Racisce.
Racisce is one of the youngest settlements on this island and is an ideal destination for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the busy every day life and have a quiet vacation.

At a walking distance from Racisce there are two beautiful bays of Vaja and Samograd) which are great places to swim and enjoy peace and sunshine. Beach Vaja is a small beach white pebble beach with azure sea water and beach Samograd is a similar but smaller and more secluded beach. Samograd is also special because of the cave found there. The entrance to the cave is through a narrow tunnel, and inside the cave there is a big hall with talactites and stalagmites and other nature made decorations.
Racisce is also a favorite spot for the yachtsman as it has a large pier and a harbor that is safe in all weather conditions.
In Racisce there are a few markets, restaurants and cafe bars.

Racisce (island Korcula) - History
The settlement of Racisce was formed in the 17th century when the people escaping the invasion of the Turks took shelter here.
The island of Korcula has been inhabited since the ancient times which is indicated by the findings from the Stone Age discovered in Vela Spila near Vela Luka. The Greeks established their colony on Korcula in the 4th century BC. They named it Korkyra Melania or Black Korcula because of its lush and thick vegetation. During the Roman rule it was called Korkyra Nigra.
