Beach Zlatni Rat is one of the most known beaches in Adriatic. It is a symbol of Brac's tourism. Beach Zlatni Rat is pebble beach, actually cape around 1000 m long. Top of the beach changes shape depending on blowing winds. At the beginning of the beach is pine forest. Beach Zlatni Rat is famous for windsurfing.
Dominican monastery was built in 15th century on peninsula Glavica. It was built on foundations of Bishop palace. Within the monastery are remains of Church of St. John and Theodor. In the monastery is painting of Our Lady with Child and a museum.
Pustinja Blaca was hermit dwelling located north of bay Blaca. Name Blaca has been mentioned since 1305. In 15th century during Turkish attacks, Poljica Glagolitics run away on island Brac. Duke gave them permit to stay and in 1570. to built monastery and church.
Dragon cave is located near settlement Murvica. It is a monument of Glagolitic life in 15th century. Dragon cave is 20 m long and has four halls. Reliefs consist parts of Slavic mythology.
Art gallery Branislav Deskovic is situated in a palace from 17th century in port Bol. It is a gallery of modern art.
Vidova Gora is 778 m high hill, highest of all Croatian islands. It has a beautiful view and it is ideal for hiking, biking, climbing... On top of the hill is Church of St. Vid from 13th century, after which hill was named. You can come to Vidova Gora with a car. You can rent a car or use private car transfers. Bol (island Brac) - History
Name Bol comes from Latin vallum which means burial, earth fortified village and earth rampart.
Bol was first time mentioned as locality in 1184. in Povaljska listina. Bol was first time mentioned as settlement in 1475.
First inhabitants of Bol were Illyrians and later Romans.
English ships were attacking island Brac two times, in 1811. and in 1812. In 1811. English corvette attacked Bol and destroyed many ships in harbor. They dragged spoil on island Vis.
In 1823. island Brac was divided into 7 Municipalities and Bol was one of them. From 1918. Bol was part of Yugoslavia and from 1991. part of independent Republic of Croatia.
