Cilipi is a settlement in the south region of Croatia located in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. It is a great place to get acquainted with the traditions of Konavle region. Cilipi is known for taking great pride in its cultural heritage and every year from Easter to the end of October every Sunday the folklore performances are held in Cilipi at the main square offering guests a unique experience of getting an insight in Croatian traditions of this region.

Cilipi - History
Cilipi became a part of the Dubrovnik Republic in 1426 when it got a status of a settlement. During the Croatian Homeland war Cilipi was almost entirely burnt by the Serbian and Montenegrin army and the inhabitants were forced to leave their homes. Cilipi was liberated from the aggressors in the autumn of 1992 but the war left great damage to the historical heritage of Cilipi.
Cilipi - Interesting Facts
Cilipi was named after the family Zilipi from Dubrovnik who owned land in this region.
Under the runway of the Cilipi airport there is a 150 m long cave called Durovica. The pots and bones found in this cave date from the Bronze and Iron Age.
