Dicmo - Location and Climate
Dicmo (Central Dalmatia, Croatia) is Municipality in region of Central Dalmatia, in Split-Dalmatian county. Administrative center of Municipality is settlement Kraj.
Municipality Dicmo is consisted of settlements: Kraj, Ercegovci, Osoje, Susci, Sicane, Krusvar and Prisoje. Municipality Dicmo is divided into two parishes: Dicmo Donje and Dicmo Gornje.
Dicmo is located on area of 68 km2 and has around 2802 inhabitants, mostly Croats and Catholics. Dicmo is also name for field, around 15 km long and 2,5 km wide.
You can come to Municipality Dicmo with highway A1 and exit Dugopolje.

Dicmo - History
Dicmo has been inhabited since Antique times. Archaeological findings show that it was inhabited with Illyrians.
During Roman times in area of Dicmo used to be tenth milestone of road Salona-Andetrium. It is believed that name comes from Latin word „decimus“ which means tenth.
Dicmo was part of state of Croatia until Turks came to this area.
First written documents which mention Dicmo are from 9th century.
Dicmo had been part of Ottoman Empire from 1524. until 1699. when it belonged to Venetian Republic.
In 1797. Dicmo followed destiny of entire Dalmatia which got under the rule of Austria and later France and again Austria.
In 1918. Dicmo was part of Kingdom Yugoslavia.
Since 1991. Dicmo has been part of independent Republic of Croatia.
