Settlement Janjina is consisted of two villages Janjina and Zabrezje.
Janjina is located in central inland of peninsula Peljesac. It is connected with other settlements with roads.
Municipality Janjina has around 551 inhabitants. Settlement Janjina has around 203 inhabitants.
You can come to Janjina with main Adriatic road from Split or Dubrovnik using car rentals or private car transfers. When you get to settlement Zaton Doli, you should turn for peninsula Peljesac and Janjina.
You can also come to Drace or Trstenik with private boat transfers or boat rentals from Split or Dubrovnik and then use bus to get to Janjina.

Janjina - History
There were many Illyrian forts in area of Janjina. Most significant was fort Gradina on a hill above settlement Janjina.
In Antique ages Janjina was in important location for trading between Narona, Issa and Korkyra.
Romans fought Illyrians for this area from 229. BC until 35. AD. Roman soldiers were rewarded with this area and built many villa rusticae.
In 7th century Croats brought different culture to this area. Churches of St. Vid and St. Juraj were built.
Janjina was first time mentioned in written documents in 1222.
In 14th century Dubrovnik Republic built a stone wall in town Ston and separated peninsula Peljesac from other countries.
Parish Janjina was founded in the end of 14th century. Parish Janjina is consisted of settlements Janjina, Drace, Sreser and Popova Luka.
In 1628. Church of St. Blaise became Parish church.
During 19th century many roads were built in and near Janjina. So in 1820. was finished road Janjina-Dol-Rat, in 1830. road Janjina-Drace, in 1863. roads Janjina-Popova Luka and Janjina-Trstenik, in 1894. road Drace-Sutvid, in 1910. main Janjina street.
In 1963. in Janjina was founded Tourist Society.
In 1635. in Janjina was written first Rules of Confraternity of St. Stephen.
In 1896. in Janjina was founded Croatian Cultural-Educational Society Zvonimir.
In 1924. in Janjina was founded Chess Society with reading room and library.
