On the slopes of mountain Kozjak used to be two villages, Lazani and Krusevik. Inhabitants of both villages moved to the coast because of the Turkish attacks. Village Lazani was first time mentioned in 852. in grant of duke Trpimir.

People built a church on land of family Cambio. In 15th and 16th century many castles were built around Kastel Kambelovac. In the end of 16th century they made a square which is still here.

Most known Croatian „klapa“ comes from Kastel Kambelovac. Klapa is a group of singers who sing without or with music background, specific for region Dalmatia.
