Kupari - History
Kupari was named after word “kupa” which inhabitants of Dubrovnik and nearby settlements used for former brick and tile production.
In Kupari field is old stone houses which was used for defense against pirates. It was built in 1623. On first floor there are loopholes. Doors were protected with grid.
In second half of 20th century tourist hotel complex was built. Within the complex was also Tito’s villa where came many statesmen.
During Homeland war Kupari was attacked, robbed and burned.
