Settlement Mali Ston was founded in 14th century by inhabitants of Dubrovnik. They built walls around the settlement. In 14th century was also built a fort Koruna with five towers. Large wall connects fort Koruna with fort Podzvizd. This wall is known as European Chinese wall, because of its length. Walls were constructed in 1359.

Mali Ston also has a port which was built in 15th century.

Mali Ston is most known for large wall and shellfish nursery. It is world's ecological pearl.
