Maslinica is a small settlement located on the west coast of the island of Solta. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful destinations on the coast of Adriatic with the most breathtaking sunset and an amazing archipelago of seven smaller islands of Polebrnjak, Saskinja, Stipanska, Kamik, Balkun, Sarac and Grmej.

Maslinica is the tourist center of the island that meets more and more guests every year. The castle in Maslenica has been transformed into a hotel and a nautical marina has also been constructed thus making it an appealing destination for the yachtsmen as well.

Maslinica is located on the island of Solta on its west coast in a bay and is the only settlement on its western part.

Maslinica has about 200 permanent residents who are mostly engaged in family tourism. During the summer season the number of residents significantly increases. In Maslinica there is accommodation capacity for about 400 guests.

The settlement Maslinica has been established in 1703 when the family of nobles asked the Venetian governor for a permission to found a new settlement and build a castle with defensive towers for defensive purposes against the frequent pirate attacks. This castle is presently been renovated into a luxurious accommodation and a restaurant Conte Alberti.

Maslinica is a very attractive tourist destination particularly appealing to the yachtsmen because of the Sesula bay situated right next to Maslinica where they can have safe anchorage.

The west part of island Solta is not very much inhabited and the only settlement on the west coast is Maslinica.
