Beaches on islands Palagruza are located in two bays on island Vela Palagruza and one bay on island Mala Palagruza. The rest of the islands are mostly steep.

Lighthouse was built by Vicko Marinkovic from Komiza. It was built of stone from island Brac. Lighting device was made in Paris.
Sea around island Galijula has three hydroarchaeological findings. Findings are ceramic ship altar, amphora and two Bronze cannons.

Palagruza (Central Dalmatia, Croatia) is an island located in region of Central Dalmatia. It is part of Municipality Komiza, in Split-Dalmatian County.
Island Palagruza is consisted of 15 small islands. It is located around 68 nm far from Split. Main island is Vela Palagruza. Vela Palagruza has lighthouse, it is 92 m high and 1400 m long. On south-east side is island Mala Palagruza which is 51 m high. Other islands are Kamik, Tarmuntona, Pupak, Kunj, Gace, Baba, Galijula. On island Galijula is southernmost Croatian land point.
Island Vela Palagruza is mostly steep and has tvo sand bays, Zola and Stara Vlaka. On west side of island is cape Kapic and on east side cape Mondefust. Island Mala Palagruza has one pebble bay Medvidina.
Island Palagruza has average 270 mm of rainfall per year. Average July temperature is 25°C and average January temperature is 11,5°C.

Palagruza (island Vis) - History
Archaeological findings show that Palagruza was inhabited 9000 years ago, during Postglacial.
During Middle Ages here was a monastery which can still be seen today.
Today permanent inhabitants are lighthouse workers. Other visitors are fishermen from Komiza. Fishermen mostly fish for lobsters, white fish, sardines, anchovies...
It is believed that Palagruza was named after Greek word pelagos which means open sea.
Palagruza was mentioned in a document of pope Alexander III. in 1177. Document from 1774. testifies of church on island Palagruza. Old church was later replaced with new one in 1874., but it was destroyed during World War I.
