Pridvorje was named after words „pri dvoru“ which in Croatian means at the palace, because in Pridvorje used to be headquarters of duke and Ducal palace at the time of Dubrovnik Republic.

In 1419. Dubrovnik Republic bought Gornje Konavle and in 1426. Donje Konavle.

Dubrovnik Republic gave land in Pridvorje to Franciscans for construction of monastery. Monastery was built within church of St. Martin. In 1822. church was renovated.

In 1991. church and monastery of Pridvorje were burned and robbed by enemy army. After the war both were renovated.
