Selca (island Brac) - Location and Climate
Selca is a Municipality on island Brac. It is located on east coast of island Brac, in region of Central Dalmatia with area of 53 km2. You can get to Selca by airplane to airports Split or Brac.
You can take a ferry Split-Supetar or Makarska-Sumartin, if you are coming with a car. You can also use private boat transfers to get to Selca. If you arrive to Supetar or Sumartin you can take a bus to get to Selca. You can also use rent a car services or boat rentals. There is a possibility of group or private boat excursions to island Hvar, island Solta, island Vis and city of Split.
Soil in the area of Selca is mostly made of limestone and dolomite limestone.
Flora of area of Selca is consisted of evergreen plants, Aleppo pine woods, holm woods, aromatic and medicinal plants... Fauna is consisted of insects, spiders, snails, frogs, lizards, bats, kuna, birds, fish, shellfish...

Selca was founded by immigration of inhabitants from western settlements: Dubravica, Gradac, Zagvozd, Mosuj, which don't exist any more.

Greatest tragedy in Selca happened in 1943. when Italian fascist invaders burned Selca and 6 other settlements on island Brac. Selca burned for 3 days.
