Skrivena Luka (island Lastovo) Locate On Map

The picturesque settlement of Skrivena Luka is located on the south side of the island Lastovo. It is situated in one of the biggest and most beautiful coves of the island. The name Skrivena Luka means a hidden harbor, and as its name suggests the settlement is hidden from sight from the open sea and the bay offers shelter to the yachtsmen from bad weather. The place has beautiful beaches and is a great destination for a quiet vacation, swimming and exploring beautiful nature and underwater world. It is located 7 km from the town of Lastovo and 17 km from the port Ubli. In the bay there is a restaurant that also offers berthing to the boats.

The lighthouse Struga is located at the very entrance to Skrivena Luka at the height of 90 m above sea level and is a beautiful viewpoint. It was constructed in 1839 and is the second oldest lighthouse on the Croatian coast.

The town of Lastovo is located on the top of the hill on the northern part of the island. It is the biggest settlement of the island and guests can see centuries old Dalmatian buildings here.

Above the town of Lastovo tower is a peak which offers a beautiful panoramic view of the eastern part of the island and the Lastovo Archipelago.

Every summer the famous Lastovo Carnival is traditionally held here. It has been listed by the Croatian Ministry of Culture as a non-material cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia.

Lucica is a small picturesque settlement located only 1 km from the town of Lastovo. It is the oldest preserved baroque fishermen's village in this region of Dalmatia and therefore it was declared a protected historical locality. It can be reached by a paved road or through a 400 m long forest track.

The cave Raca has been protected as a geomorphological monument of nature and also as an archaeological site in 1965. It is situated on the south-east part of the island Lastovo.

Skrivena Luka is a settlement on the island of Mljet belonging to the Lastovo Municipality and the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. It has a population of about 20 permanent residents.

The island of Lastovo can be reached by ferry and catamaran lines from Split. Lastovo can also be reached via the island of Korcula where guests have to board the ferry in Vela Luka.

The port of Ubli is connected by bus lines to the other places on the island. There is also a taxi service.

The island of Lastovo was first mentioned by the names of Ladesta or Ladeston during the 14th century BC.

In the Raca cave were discovered the archaeological findings dating from the Stone Age (8500.BC), indicating human inhabitance on this island since the ancient history. Illyrians inhabited Lastovo which has also been on the sea route of the Greek sailors. This is indicated by the archaeological discoveries of Greek ceramics.

In Ubli were located the headquarters of Romans who settled in Lastovo after conquering the Dalmatian provinces. They left traces of their presence in the form of the so called 'villae rusticae' which were their summer houses and also water-drawing constructions called 'lokve'.

The lighthouse Struga was built in 1839 and is the second oldest lighthouse on the Croatian coast located at the very entrance to Skrivena Luka.
