Stari Grad (island Hvar) Locate On Map

First hotel in Stari Grad was founded in 1920. It was called Mosorska Vila (Mosor Villa) and it had around 15 rooms. In 1929. first Stari Grad Guide was printed.

During the 90's many hotels and bungalows were built in Stari Grad. Tourism was developing until the Patriotic War which lasted from 1991.-1995. Since the war, Stari Grad has been developing as attractive tourist destination.

Park Vorba was named by water source on east side, mentioned since 1331., surrounded by canals, connected by bridges. Middle street is the center street of Stari Grad and used to be trading center.

Castle Tvrdalj is the most known building in Stari Grad. It has a pond and devecot. Square of St. Stephen with parish church of St. Stpehen is the most significant public area in Stari Grad. Many contracts were made here and many verdicts were pronounced.

Greek Tower Maslinovik is located on a hill in Stari Grad plain, around 3 km far from town Stari Grad. Tower was used as communication link Tor-Pharos and for defense. Wind mill in Stari Grad is located on south side of a port. It was built in 19th century.

Stari Grad is a town on island Hvar, located in region of Central Dalmatia, Croatia. It is located on west side of island Hvar in Starogrojska bay. Stari Grad has area of 55 m2.
