First hotel in Stari Grad was founded in 1920. It was called Mosorska Vila (Mosor Villa) and it had around 15 rooms. In 1929. first Stari Grad Guide was printed.
During the 90's many hotels and bungalows were built in Stari Grad. Tourism was developing until the Patriotic War which lasted from 1991.-1995. Since the war, Stari Grad has been developing as attractive tourist destination.

Stari Grad is a town on island Hvar, located in region of Central Dalmatia, Croatia. It is located on west side of island Hvar in Starogrojska bay. Stari Grad has area of 55 m2.
You can get to Stari Grad by ferry from Split. So you can get by car, bus or boat. You can also get by airplane to airport Split and then take a bus or taxi to Split's port.
Other option to get to Stari Grad from Split or any other nearby town on mainland is by speed boat. There are many private boat transfers to avoid slow ferries. Stari Grad (island Hvar) - History
Stari Grad is the oldest town on island Hvar and the oldest European town. Stari Grad was founded as Pharos in 384. BC by Greek immigrants.
