Sveta Nedilja is a small settlement located on the south side of the island Hvar 12 km from the town of Hvar. Sveta Nedjelja (island Hvar) - History
The cave located above Sveta Nedilja was inhabited in the Neolithic time. In that cave the Augustinians built a monastery and a small church in the 15th century. They left the monastery in the 17th century in 1787 and the church was operative until 1823 when a new one was built in the settlement. Now only the ruins of the monastery can be seen whereas the church has been completely preserved. Visitors can easily reach the cave from where there is an amazing view of Sveta Nedilja, the island of Korcula and the open sea.

Thanks to the great climate and an ideal geographic position Sveta Nedilja has great vines out of which are produced the best quality red wines. The most famous sort of grape here is called Plavac Mali.
