Tourism in Trogir started to develop in 30s of 20th century. First tourists were from Middle European countries. First tourist guide with list of town monuments was published in 1936. Most of the tourists come to Trogir because of its traditional and historical values.
Trogir offers accommodation in around 10 hotels, auto-camps and private houses and apartments. Camps near Trogir are Seget, Rozac and Vranjica Belvedere.
Trogir can accept many boats in two marinas. ACI marina Trogir is located on island Ciovo, across Trogir's main promenade. It is opened during the whole year. Old part of town Trogir was listed on UNESCO's list of world's heritage in 1997.
Trogir is mostly visited because of its rich cultural and historical heritage. Most famous monument is Trogir's Cathedral and Old town.
Trogir has many beaches located in and near town. Some of them are: pebble beach Pantan 2 km east of Trogir, beach Okrug, sand beach Kava in Slatine, concrete beach Medena in Seget, beach Businci... You can come to these beaches by walking or car rentals. You can also use private car transfers.
Trogir has many coffee bars, night clubs and restaurants. Famous night clubs and coffee bars: F1-club 5 km far from Trogir center, club Monaco on island Ciovo, many clubs in marina Trogir and coffee bars in center of Trogir.

Cathedral of St. Lawrence is most known monument in Trogir. It is protected by UNESCO. Construction started in 1213. It has been built in Romanesque and Gothic style. Construction ended in 1589. Baptistery had been constructed by Andrija Alesi from 1460.-1467. First floor of bell-tower was built by Matija Gojkovic in in Gothic style. Second floor was built in 15th century in Venetian floral Gothic style. Third floor of bell-tower was built in 16th century. Fourth part of the bell-tower was built by Venetian sculptor Alessandro Vittorio.
Radovan's portal is main portal of St. Lawrence Cathedral. It was built by Majstor Radovan in 1240. Portal consists First sin, Redemption, saints and apostles, display of months, scenes of hunting... In lunette is Jesus's birth display.
Old town Trogir is listed on UNESCO's list of world's heritage.
Palace of family Cipiko is located accross the Cathedral of St. Lawrence. It is consisted of few buildings. Most parts were built in 13th century, but oldest parts are from Middle Ages. In 15th century palace was renovated.
Town museum is located on adress Gradska vrata 4, in palace Garagnin-Fanfonga.
Ducal palace was built in Renaissance style. It has been mentioned since 13th century. It is located on east side of square.
North gates are located at the entrance to old town Trogir. On the top of the entrance is statue of St. Ivan Ursini, protector of town. North gates are connected with old town with small bridge.
Benedictine monastery of St. Nicholas was founded in 1064. It is located next to church of St. Dujam. Monastery used to be dedicated to St. Dujam, but it was changed in 12th century.
Church of St. Barbara is oldest preserved church in Trogir. Above the entrance is treshold decorated with bird figures and early Medieval ornaments.
Tower of St. Marc is located on north-west part of the town. It used to be merged with town walls and tower Kamerlengo. It was built in 15th century.
Tower Kamerlengo is located in south-west part of town walls. Oldest part of the castle is tower from 14th century. Tower had been built from 1420. till 1437. It was used for accommodation of Venetian army.
Town Clock Tower is located between St. Mary Church and town lodge on St. Sebastian Church, built in 1477.
Town Walls have 2 towers on coastal side. Between those towers are new main gates leading towards sea. Within the gates is lodge from 16th century. Not far from the gates, on the shore is pole for flag hanging mounted in 1605. Land gates were built in 1656. Above the gates is a statue of protector of town Trogir, Blessed John Bishop.

Trogir - History
Town Trogir was founded by Greek colonists from island Vis in 3rd century BC, but hostorical findings show that area of Trogir has been inhabited since Prehistory.
In 1123. town was attacked by Saracens and most of the inhabitants moved to Split. In second half of 12th century life in town was normalized again.
In 1107. Hungarian-Croatian king Koloman declared Trogir as free royal town.
In 12th and 13th century, inhabitants of Trogir helped Hungarian-Croatian king Bela IV to hide from Tatars. In 1271. in Trogir was opened first drugstore in Europe. Copy of original document which testifies that is located in Trogir's museum.
Trogir was under the rule of Venetians from 1420. till 1797., under the rule of Austria till 1806., under the rule of France till 1814. and again Austria till 1918.
In 1832. the town was devastated by cholera.
World War I brought poverty and decrease of population because of many men going to the war.
After World War II town was expanded on island Ciovo. Main activity was agriculture. Trogir also built modern shipyard after World War II. It is located on surface of 155 km2.
In 20th century inhabitants turned to vegetables growing.
In 1991. Trogir became part of independent Republic of Croatia. In 1991. patriotic war started when Serbian army attacked Croatian areas.
